  • Our vision

We are a church of Song, Word and Table

We are creative, collaborative and Sacramental.

The 505 Service experiments with music, liturgy, and spiritual practices to communicate ancient themes to new ears and, for others, to re-introduce the story of Jesus, by the power of the Spirit, as we contemplate the mystery and revelation of God in Jesus Christ.

We believe we are incredibly loved by God, and the Word and Table remind us of who we are and whose we are and what we are free to do in response.

We believe that the Sacraments are “thin places,” where, by the power of the Spirit, we are called to experience the ultimate grace, in Word and Table, in Confession and Baptism into Christ’s death and new life, in Covenant with the Holy One of Israel.

    Statement of Beliefs

We believe that our Creator calls us to creative worship that communicates the Ancient of Days to people here and now, engaging all of the senses and speaking into human experience.

We believe that our Redeemer searches for the one lost sheep, the brother who leaves and the brother who stays outside the party, the lost coin, such that we are to go to the frontiers of our faith and there encounter the Risen Christ in our neighbors and strangers at the margins of faith and society.

We believe that our Sustainer nourishes our souls with the Word, and sends us out to serve, such that service to the “least of these” flows out of encountering the Risen One in worship.

We believe that our Lord’s Church is wherever two or three are gathered by the Spirit in His Name, who in gratitude worship the Triune God, who in humility surrender to the sovereignty of God’s grace, who in the power of love, go out to the world and serve.

We believe in the unity of Christ’s Church and commit to imaginative collaboration in serving God’s people with costly love as Christ has served the church.

  • Meet the Team

    Rev. Edwin Estevez

    Co-Convening Minister for Riverfront Church

Born and raised in Jersey by his loving family who immigrated from Guatemala, Edwin is a drummer for Milan and the Sour Goat; his other interests include backpacking, literature and creative writing, films, Latin jazz, traveling, and reflecting on community and meaning. Ask him about Guatemala, Tito Puente, The Godfather Trilogy, Ernest Hemingway, Dave Matthews, Jewel and Jesus.

    Chelsea Spyres

    Co-Convening Minister for Riverfront Church

Born and raised in Newark, DE, Chelsea is excited to be back in this area after some time in Detroit, MI and Washington, DC. She is finishing seminary at Wesley Theological and is United Methodist. Chelsea loves coffee and chai tea, is an avid hiker and camper, loves hosting people for dinner or drinks, and is always up for playing board games like Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride. Ask her about the Enneagram, Harry Potter, podcasts, hiking the Camino Santiago, or poetry by Jan Richardson and get ready for her to geek out.

    Rev. Emma Horn

Emma is a PCUSA minister. Along with her work with Riverfront church, she also is currently serving as a co-pastor at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church. She is originally from North Carolina and although the accent has faded, her love of sweet tea, BBQ, and every kind of fried food has not. Emma is a proud cat mom to three fur babies Asher, Daenerys, and Lucky. In her free time, she loves to go to read, watch Netflix, try out new restaurants and coffee shops, and go to nerdy conventions, especially those focused on Star Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, classic Godzilla and monster movies, or Game of Thrones. One of her favorite things is when she can use her pop culture knowledge to help people to understand their faith better.
